Are You In Love?


Text: Deuteronomy 6:1 - 7

Intro: There is a lot of talk these days about love. Everyone wants to be loved, but do not understand how to love.

I. With The Lord
Deut. 6:6 “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Matt. 22:37
A. Definition of Love
1. A loving relationship involves commitment and loyalty.
2. A loving relationship involves trust and respect for the person loved.
3. A loving relationship involves the giving and surrendering of oneself.
4. A loving relationship involves knowing and sharing.
B. Heart
1. Whole Hearted.
2. The heart is the seat of your emotions.
3. The heart aches with sorrow and love.
C. Soul
1. Who You Are.
2. God Made You A Living Soul.
3. The Soul Is Eternal.
D. Might
1. Energy
2. Serving With Gladness
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
1 Cor. 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
1 Cor. 8:3 “But if any man love God, the same is known of him.”

II. With Your Church – 1 John 3:14 - 19
A. Are You Willing To Sacrifice?
B. Are You Willing To Serve?
C. Are You Willing To Love?

III. With The World
1 John 2:15 – 17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

A. More in love with possessions than with God.
B. More in love with money than with God.
C. More in love with worldly pleasures than with God.

1 Tim. 6:10 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
