It’s an Inconvenience to Serve the Lord

TEXT:ACTS 7:2-8

IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS NEVER CONVENIENT TO SERVE THE LORD. THE EXCUSES YOU HERE, IT’S TOO HOT OR COLD. TOO BUSY, NOT ENOUGH EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE. THE LIST GOES ON. YES SERVING THE LORD IS NOT EASY. BUT LIKE THE SONG SAYS. IT WILL BE WORTH IT ALL WHEN WE SEE JESUS! YES THERE IS A PAY DAY SOMEDAY! THERE IS A CROWN AWAITING THOSE THAT ARE FAITHFULL AND FOR THE SOULWINNER. ABRAHAM IS GOOD ILLUSTRATION FOR THIS MESSAGE.

I. THE CALL – V.2,3
GOD CALLED ABRAHAM TO LEAVE HIS HERITAGE, HIS RELIGEON, HIS CULTURE, AND HIS FAMILY. ACCORDING TO JOSHUA 24: 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

A. SALVATION
LUKE 15: 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

B. SERVANTHOOD
1. OBEDIANCE – TRUST AND OBEY FOR THERE IS NO OTHER WAY
2. ABRAHAM OBEYED GOD’S COMMAND
3. MAT. 24: 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
4. A LADY WAS ASKED TO TEACH A SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS. SHE SAID, PASTOR, I CAN’T TEACH. HE SAID, ANOTHER WORDS YOU ARE TELLING ME YOU DON’T HAVE ENOUGH SENSE TO TEACH? ACTUALLY YOU HAVE EVERYTHNG THAT IS HUMANLY NECESSARY TO MAKE AN EXCELLENT TEACHER. THE ONLY THING YOU LACK IS THE WILLINGNESS TO TRY. IF YOU WILL AGREE TO TRY, GOD WILL ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED. SHE DID, AND SHE MADE A WONDERFUL TEACHER.

C. SURENDER ALL
1. A MAN WHO OBEYS IS A MAN OF FAITH
2. A MAN WHO DISOBEYS IS A MAN WITHOUT FAITH,
3. AN UNBELIEVER

II. THE COMMITMENT
IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR ABRAHAM TO HAVE A GREAT NAME AND BECOME A GREAT NATION AND A SOURCE OF BLESSING TO ALL THE WORLD.
A. IT’S NOT EASY – NOT THE EASY ROAD
B. IT’S FOR A LIFE TIME
C. IT’S FOR ALL ETERNITY

III. THE CONSEQUENCE
GEN. 12: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
A. GREAT
B. BLESSINGS
C. GREAT NAME
D. TESTIMONY
E. A NAME THAT PEOPLE WILL RESPECT
F. USE YOU TO BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS
G. WILL BLESS THOSE THAT BLESS YOU
