My God Is Real

Text: Gen. 28:10 - 22

Introduction: How is God to you? Is He real enough to worship this morning? I think sometimes folks loose track of how real God is. When we are close to God and see Him work in our lives He feels the realest.

IF GOD IS REAL IN YOUR LIFE YOU WILL…

I. Fear Him - v. 17

A. Holy Reverence
B. Proverbs 3:7,8 "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 9Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."
C. It brings health, substance for living, and blessings.

II. Serve Him - v. 20,21
A. Unconditionally - unlike Jacob
B. With all you heart and soul
1. not half-hearted
2. not with the attitude of do I have too
3. not with the attitude or motive of what will I get out of it
C. He is Worthy
D. What has God done for you?
E. William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, was interviewed near the close of his life. This is what he said: "God had all there was of me. There have been others who had greater plans, greater opportunities than I; but from the day I got a vision of what God could do, I made up my mind God would have all there was of William Booth."

III. Live For Him
A. A life that pleases God
1. Godly
2. Pure
3. Holiness
B. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second
C. Make your life count for all eternity

IV. Give For Him - v.22
A. Tithe
1. 2 Cor. 9:6 "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."
2. Because you have to
B. Time
1. Prayer
2. Bible Study - Daily Devotion
3. Serving your church
C. Talents
1. Teaching - toddlers, youth
2. Singing
3. Caring

Conclusion: How real is God to you this morning? Maybe you need to be reintroduced to Him this morning. He wants to help you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
